In Friday's quarterfinal matchup, Inter Miami CF will host Charlotte FC at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The winner of the Inter Miami-Charlotte FC game will face the Philadelphia Union-Querétaro winner in the semifinals on Aug. 16.

Inter Miami's next scheduled MLS regular-season game — originally slated for Aug. 20 against Charlotte FC — has been postponed to a later date to be announced. So, Messi could make his MLS regular-season debut on Aug. 26 against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Charlotte FC is in just its second Major League Soccer season and might be enjoying the greatest moment in its young history with its Leagues Cup run. In the knockout rounds, Charlotte FC defeated Liga MX's Cruz Azul in a penalty shootout and then Houston Dynamo FC in a wild late-game rally to set up a date with Messi and Inter Miami.
